Cultural Considerations
For those of
you who visit Nepal, we suggest cultural information to help you integrate and
feel comfortable:
The dress
code is equally important for men and women. Men and women should wear trousers
instead of shorts during a tour of Kathmandu. It's okay for men in vests, but
they shouldn't go naked. Women should be as modest as possible.
Hindus are
concerned about ritual contamination of food when someone outside their caste
or religion touches it. Therefore, do not touch cooked meals on display, and
when consuming a container used by others, avoid touching your lips to it. Do
not eat with your left hand and make sure you only give or receive food with
your right hand. Shoes are considered degrading, so leave them on the floor and
take them off before you put your feet on anything. If you enter a Nepalese
house, you follow your host's example by deciding to take off your shoes, but
when entering a temple or monastery, you must remove them.
You will
pass the Mani Buddhist walls, chortens, and stupas along the way, and you will
follow the local traditions, and you should give them to your right.

In September
2019, I participated in the guided tour of Kathmandu and Nagarkot with Nepal
Tour & Trekking Service P. Ltd. The
tour offered a perfect combination of culture and breathtaking views of the
mountains. During my trip, I did not have to worry about anything because my
tour guide took care of everything, from the adaptation and organization of the
whole trip. On a four day trip, I got two different guides, and both were very
familiar with the local culture and the history of Nepal. I enjoyed the visits
to the cultural heritage sites in the Kathmandu valley, the sunrise, and sunset
in Nagarkot with incredible views of the mountains. I can recommend this travel
agency to anyone who wants to have an unforgettable experience in Nepal.
